The January 4 board meeting of the Media Communications Association was called to order at 6:55 p.m. by John Coleman. We welcomed Patricia Shanks who joined us. Emmett gave the treasurer's report and said that two new members joined as associates. John Coleman mentioned that the January meeting is entitled A Talent Tell All: actors reveal the ten best and worst things directors do. Bill Brown will be the MC, and Bill also booked experts in the field who will be in the panel discussion. They include Matthew Basil from NBC's Lost, Connie Terwilliger, international voice-over talent, Mike Villani, voice-over talent and spokesman for Ditech and John Patrick Walsh, voice-over actor. John said that the location is to be determined, but that there was a possibility of having the meeting at Fullerton college. He also discussed the topics for the February and March meetings. In February, the meeting will be presented by Cannon Camera, and the topic will be the new digital video camera which premiered in November. It was mentioned that we need a theater that can play video and 35 millimeter post-production. In March, we will have a woman executive from MGM who will discuss how to sit in a room with a client and convince them to buy your product. It was also mentioned that Marv Taman is working on a presentation down the road regarding the funding and producing of a documentary and how to get the word out regarding that. Grace said that John Primm was willing to take over the publishing of the weekly Blast. A suggestion was made by Travis about members being able to put their member news on the blast. Travis also mentioned that he would be picking up tapes for the Denver video. Those who will judge the video include John Coleman, Dennis Backer, Travis, Larry Goldsmith, Emmett Kesel, and Rick Sherman. Larry Goldsmith volunteered Starlight Video as the location for that event. Free pizza will be served. The next topic of discussion was the fund raising contest which is still open. The consensus of the board is that we need to find someone who will take charge of this project and help get it accomplished. We are looking forward to a great year with some exciting events in our future. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30. Tina Wilson, MCA-I Recording Secretary
