Our new President, Dennis Backer, conducted the combo Board Meeting/Annual Planning Meeting, much to the delight of ex-president Beverly Turner, who was obviously enjoying the end of her two-year stint. Present were Dennis Backer, John Coleman, Larry Goldsmith, Emmett Kesel, Bill Brown, Grace McKay, Travis, Beverly Turner and John Primm. Dennis led our discussion that centered around the future of our chapter. As of right now we have 34 national members and just a handful of associate members. Dennis would really like to make our chapter grow. A few ideas talked about were:
A. Sending a notice along with the membership dues invoice reminding the member that their listing on this website will be deleted if their membership is not up to date.
B. Having our general meetings at the same location such as Wild West Media.
C. Having some purely social gatherings in addition to the General Meetings.
D. Cosponsoring more events with other organizations.
E. Having additional special interest group meetings. The Programming Committee will be meeting to discuss and come up with some specific recommendations. The committee is led by Vice-President, John Coleman. Members are Tom Dunn, Grace McKay, Emmett Kesel, Gary Stone, Jeff Iverson and Bill Brown. They will be looking for input from our membership. There may be a survey coming your way, where you can vote for the top ten topics. Some meeting topic suggestions that Dennis has received include, Documentaries, Commercials, Top Producers in OC, Joint OC/San Diego Meeting, An LA Meeting, Asset Management, DVD Authoring, Auditioning and Casting (budgeting and finding the right talent), International Production (shooting abroad and shooting FOR abroad) Independent Programming and Distribution, Getting a Show on National TV, Roundtable Forums, Wifi, Marketing Tips for Freelancers: How to Develop More Business, Member Showcase (one large meeting; Drive-in barbeque) and the HD Market. In addition to the Programming Committee, the other committees are:

Our New Treasurer, Beverly Turner, reported that there is $5,000 in our bank account.
Another "Garage Sale" was discussed, possibly in October. Larry Goldsmith will be heading up this event.
NOTE: There will NOT be a regular general meeting in July. That meeting is being replaced with the Annual Party on Sunday, July 18th. The Annual Party is at the home of Whirly, the sacred party sig blender, and it's keeper, Gary Stone.
There are tentative plans for a social "Happy Hour" type meeting on Wednesday, August 18th, which will take the place of the general meeting in August. Keep checking your e-mail for details. John Primm www.dvpostvideo.com
