The June 1, 2005 Board Meeting Notes: The monthly Board Meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by President Dennis Backer. Members present: John Coleman, Tina Wilson, Dennis Backer, Beverly Turner, Grace McKay, Emmett Kesel, Travis, Gary Stone (late) and John Primm. Minutes - John Primm: The minutes of the May meeting were approved. Treasurer's Report - Beverley Turner: $341 in cash flow in last 3 months. Programming - John Coleman: Last's month's meeting with Grace McKay was "fabulous!" Some discussion centered on the fact that some guests are attending who don't pay the $10. It is a problem that needs to be solved. Upcoming meetings: June 15 is the Drive-In Movie night and also the election. July 20 is the summer party at Gary Stone's. Unlike years past, it will happen on our regular Wednesday night instead of a weekend. August 17 will be a Bonanza Mixer at the Water's Restaurant on the lake in Woodbridge. This is going to be a real business mixer, rather than just a social. John is looking for more ideas for the fall. Registration - Robert Sheridan: not present. Membership - Emmett Kesel: Reported that we have 1 new associate member. PR - Susan Wilcox, Bill Ennis: not present. Susan needs to send everyone a Tuesday Blast regarding the Drive-In Movie Night. Communications - Tina Wilson: Reported on several contacts she has made. Speaker's Bureau/Campus Liaison - position open. See new Business. Website - Grace McKay, Travis: Visual changes are currently underway. Old Business: The nominating committee met and has formulated a slate of officers. They are: President - Dennis Backer President Elect - John Coleman Vice-President - (being worked on) Secretary - Tina Wilson Treasurer - Emmett Kesel Board Members at Large - John Primm, Bill Ennis, Travis. Strategic Advisory Board - Bill Brown and John Coleman attended a San Diego MCA-I chapter meeting and got some insight into that chapter's success. Some ideas were discussed about sponsorships, vendor's tables, a "Wal-Mart" type greeter, etc. The Cast Party for the volunteers of the Newport Beach Film Festival was a great success, and the Mega-Mixer was well attended. The Swap Meet is set for September 16. Home Movie Day is August 13 at Electric Pictures. Gary Stone is producing the Golden Reel Awards Show for the MCA-I National Conference in Las Vegas. Several other members are helping out. New Business: There will be a Saddleback College Speaker Series in which MCA-I will have the opportunity to participate. These are weekly community service fund raising events. People buy tickets to attend. We will most likely host about 2 fall and 2 spring presentations. John Coleman will be coordinating speakers from our organization. The meeting adjourned at 8:43. John Primm
