The monthly Board Meeting was called to order at 7 PM by President Dennis Backer. Members present: Dennis Backer, Grace McKay, Emmett Kesel, Gary Stone, Tina Wilson, Travis, John Coleman, Larry Goldsmith, Robert Sheridan and Beverly Turner. Minutes John Primm: not present. The minutes of the January meeting were corrected. Beverly Turner took notes at this meeting. Treasurer's Report Beverley Turner: $250 pent on food at last meeting. Panasonic owes us $150. $100 was collected. MCA-I national still owes us some money. Programming - John Coleman: Lasts months meeting at Chapman University received mixed reviews. There were just a few students present. A follow up with Chapman is needed to find out why so few students attended, so we can improve attendance. Upcoming meetings: April Networking/Marketing Kunbo (sp?) is a cross between TV and BiTV. May is open. Should we have a mega-mixer or a speaker? We might have a meeting regarding creating websites and open source dynamic content. A June showcase drive-in is planned. Look for announcements concerning the Lawn Chair Bijou. Registration - Robert Sheridan: Almost everyone signed in at the last meeting. Often an e-mail cannot be read. Tina will begin to ask for an e-mail verification when she calls. Membership - Emmett Kesel: A number of members have not paid their national dues. PR - Susan Wilcox, Bill Ennis: Our brochure is out of date. Bill and Susan will re-write some parts to emphasize that we are digital filmmakers. An ad was placed in DV Magazine. Communications - Tina Wilson: Is unable to make calls at this time, and so John Primm volunteered to make them. Note: I still need the list. Speaker's Bureau/Campus Liaison position open. John Coleman and Dennis Backer have been calling various campuses about some of our members availability for speaking. Whenever MCA-I gets an invitation, John Coleman will send out an e-mail. Dennis is speaking on April 24th. Its actually a student chapter of the AMA. Website - Grace McKay, Travis: Did not see anything specific in notes. Old Business: New Business: It was decided to try Benjies again for our monthly breakfast. John Primm has made a reservation for the bar area this time. There are small round tables there that can be put together. A garage sale in September? Home Movie Day August 13 The Galaxy Theater Party Dennis will send a letter to Janet regarding the loss of our $1,000 of seed money. He will also contact a lawyer about our liability for an additional $980 that is expected from our organization. Newport Beach Film Festival It was moved and seconded to persue getting involved with the April 29th awards ceremony to be held in the Orange County Museum of Art. It will involve helping to produce an awards ceremony, with large screen video projection, graphics, and editing video montages and clips. Also needed are creative camera and sound people, announcers and other volunteers. The meeting adjourned at 8:40. Thanks to Beverly Turner for taking these notes in my absence, John Primm
