The May 4, 2005 Board Meeting Notes: The monthly Board Meeting was called to order at 6:57 PM by President Dennis Backer. Members present: John Coleman, Bill Ennis, Tina Wilson, Dennis Backer, Beverly Turner, Larry Goldsmith, Grace McKay, Emmett Kesel, Travis, Bill Brown and John Primm. Minutes - John Primm: The minutes of the April meeting were corrected and approved. Treasurer's Report - Beverley Turner: $145 was collected from guests at the last meeting. Food was $105. It was approved to rent PVN's PA system and video projector for $25 at future meetings, as some people had trouble hearing at the last meeting. It was approved to give Dennis and John Coleman $200 each for expenses to attend the National MCA-I Conference in Las Vegas in June. Programming - John Coleman: Last's month's meeting with Akimbo was well attended. Upcoming meetings: June 15 is the Drive-In Movie night and also the election. A segment from the Newport Beach Film Festival will be shown in addition to cartoons, travelogs and other fun stuff. MCA-I will have a table at the May 5th Mega-Mixer event - John Coleman to set up. Bill Ennis made a looped DVD for anyone who provided a short clip to him. Registration - Robert Sheridan: not present. Membership - Emmett Kesel: Reported that we currently have 39 national members and 11 associate members. PR - Susan Wilcox, Bill Ennis: The new brochure prepared for the May 5 Mega Mixer is completed. All members are encouraged to have some copies to hand out. Communications - Tina Wilson: At least two guests from the last meeting have indicated that they will continue to attend! An e-mail was sent to all members regarding the Mega-Mixer. Speaker's Bureau/Campus Liaison - position open: Dennis and John Coleman have been accepting some speaking engagements. Two students form a Marketing class at Chapman University, where Dennis spoke, came to the last meeting. Website - Grace McKay, Travis: It's still working and looking cool. (I love the new look of it that came online a few days ago near the end of May) John Primm volunteered to type in all the member's names and phone numbers of those who haven't posted their info. Old Business: A cast party for the Newport Beach Film Festival volunteers is being planned. The swap meet being planned for September 18 has been changed to Friday, September 16th. Larry, Grace and Beverly are the coordinators. New Business: Dennis, John Coleman, John Primm, Beverly and Tina will form a nominating committee to select a slate for the June elections. Dennis, John Coleman and Bill Brown will form a strategic Advisory Board. The meeting adjourned at 8:45. Although not a part of this board meeting, at the last monthly breakfast held at Benjie's in Santa Ana, the possibility of a more centralized location was discussed. Lots of suggestions were made, and perhaps a decision about this can be made at the June board meeting. John Primm
