MCAI BOARD NOTES - JULY 2007

New chapter president Tina Wilson opened the meeting at 6:55pm.

Wilson noted her excitement at becoming president and thanked outgoing president John Coleman for his service. Wilson briefly mentioned goals for the organization, focusing on attracting new members. Wilson also noted that she had been in touch with Gabriel Zavala from Video Pro Matrix, who she hoped would make an appearance at the meeting. She added that Video Pro Matrix was adding large soundstages and video equipment and have a Grand Opening on August 25th.

The June presentation meeting was discussed with some consensus that it was a great success with good food, though the presentations went a bit long. Wilson wanted to make sure we got attendees names from Visual Resources.

Gabriela Zavala arrived and noted that there will be two sizable soundstages as part of the new Video Pro Matrix. Having been primarily audio before, they will have video editing with surround sound capability. He noted a green a screen of 14’ by 48’. A suggestion was put forth to hold the July 18th meeting at his facility and Zavala agreed to this.

Treasurer, Emmet Kesel reported $2321.00 in the bank, an income of $855.00 of income this year and noted we were at a $279.00 deficit for the year.

Wilson suggested some subsidizing for officers that might want to attend the national MCAI meeting in Milwaukee. After some discussion, it was the consensus to provide $1200.00 for 3, $1000.00 for 2 and $500.00 for a single attendee. Wilson, Vice-President Omar Guzman and Secretary Erik Villesvik are considering going.

Discussion of the need for food at the 18th meeting (and all such meetings) was discussed. John Coleman noted the cost was in the range of $100.00 to $200.00 per meeting. It was agreed that a food sponsorship would be created to ensure that food sponsors were duly pitched and praised at the meetings.

September 17th will be the pro mixer at The Waters.

The summer party will be August 19th at Gary Stone’s.

General discussion of recruitment on campus for new members via internships and presentations.
Wilson noted the need for a person to spearhead increased PR for the chapter.

The yearly swap meet was cancelled.

Discussion of keeping track of new members and lapsed members.

Discussion of Production Hub’s deal to sell web space. Consensus that it was not worth the cost.

Grace McKay will provide food for the July 18th meeting.

Gary Stone announced the 1st week in Oct. for the so-called Low Tech Experience (a camping outing, whose location that has yet to be determined).

Wilson closed the meeting with another appeal to find ways to attract new members.
