VOLUNTEERS PRODUCE NEWPORT BEACH FILM FESTIVAL AWARDS NIGHT "HOT FLICKS" PRODUCTION
About the Volunteers (Newport Beach, CA - April 2005) The some 30
volunteers working on The Media Alliance's Award Show for the Newport
Beach Film Festival are all members of MAOC. The each work in such
diverse but related fields as booking, on camera and voice over talent,
videography, film and video editing, theatrical staging, music
composing and lyric writing, graphics and the loan of equipment
necessary to make this event possible.
MAOC President Rich Sherman is leading the efforts to create an
extraordinary Awards Show. Sherman is a composer, musician, and
recording engineer who owns and operates Sherman Sound Suite, located
within the Irvine Studios complex. His company is one of the largest
video production/post-production facilities in Orange County. The sound
suite has been set up for a variety of functions, specifically
including the composing and recording of original music for video and
film (feature films, TV shows, TV commercials, infomercials, corporate
videos, training videos, etc.), as well as providing sound design,
sound effects, library music, voice-over recording, ADR (automated
dialog replacement) and audio sweetening.
John W.Coleman, of
the Creative Producers Group, is the executive producer of the awards
show, leading the all-volunteer effort by members of the Media Alliance
of Orange County. Mr. Coleman's company has offices in Los Angeles and
Orange County and has produced programming for A&E, Fox Sports, and
Spike TV as well as broadcast syndication. The Creative Producers Group
was formed in 1990 and also produces commercials, marketing videos and
multi-media for a variety of industries. Clients include Chevrolet,
Chrysler-Dodge and Lexli Skin Care. A veteran with more than 25 years
in television, he brings experience both as a program executive at
three TV Stations and a producer-director of live events. Coleman is on
the board of Directors of the Media Alliance and the Media
Communications Association International that is also assisting the
production of the award show.
LA actor/voice over artist
Michael Villani will be the evening's MC. Michael co-starred with
Robert Redford and Michelle Pfeiffer in "Up Close and Personal," was
featured in "Volcano" with Tommy Lee Jones and "Wag the Dog" with
Robert DeNiro and Dustin Hoffman. He co-starred as Merv Griffin in the
Milos Forman film, "Man On The Moon" and the Andy Kaufman story,
starring Jim Carrey - and is appearing in Jim's blockbuster "Bruce
Almighty". Commercially, Mike is the national spokesman for DiTech.com
and was the international "voice" for Warner Brothers Television - just
to name a few of his many credits.

Dennis
Backer will be heading up teams of producers/reporters/videographers
covering the events of the Newport Beach Film Festival during the week
prior to the awards evening. He is the president of the Orange
County/LA Chapter of the Media Communications Association International
- a contributing organization with MOAC on the NBFF Award Show project.
He is on the board of the Media Alliance of Orange County, and The
OC/LA chapter of the Media Communications Association and MCA-I is
supplying many of the volunteers throughout the week of the Festival.
Each team will shoot and edit selected events, which will be edited
into short video segments to be viewed at various times during the
awards presentations.
