The May21st meeting was held at WILD WEST MEDIA in Irvine. Thanks to WILD west media's Facility Manager Bernard Samra for graciously opening up their large studio space for our meeting.
President
BEVERLY TURNER opened the meeting and welcomed the guests, who had the
opportunity to introduce themselves. Upcoming events were
announced.
FRank colin,
Vice President of Product Development, at Final Draft, Inc. gave an
excellent presentation of Final Draft, an incredible script writing
software package. As those of you who have
been attending this years' meetings, a number of copies of Final Draft
have been given away in the raffle. Tonight, yours truly was the
very fortunate recipient. I must say that
the software is very impressive, works on both my Mac and my PC, and is
amazing in now it intuitively speeds up the writing process. It
has the ability to completely read the script out loud, where you can
customize the voices of the characters and has a killer spellchecker
and thesaurus.
Frank
also demonstrated Final AV Draft, which is designed for the usual multi
column format used for corporate/industrial/commercial scripts. LARRY GOLDSMITH was the lucky winner of that software package.
Speaking of being lucky - one of our guests won a DVD player in the raffle! There were also shirts from WILD WEST MEDIA, some TRAVIS pens and some old - but fun ITVA items.
The June 18th meeting was held at YALE VIDEO in Anaheim. Former president BILL BROWN substituted for President BEVERLY TURNER who was working in Woodland Hills until 5:30. She finally arrived around 8:30. (Happy driving!)
Rick
invited everyone to a benefit concert his is giving on June 21st in
Corona Del Mar to aid the victims of child abuse, and also to his
regular gig at the Village Inn on Balboa Island. He plays every Friday night starting at 8 PM. He has been performing there for 25 years!
After
the presentation, GARY STONE and TINA WILSON, who can never pass up an
open microphone, entertained us with some great singing to Rick's
keyboards. Education and Entertainment in one meeting!
Elections
were held, and the results will be announced at the next meeting. The
best news about the elections is that BEVERLY TURNER has agreed to run
for a second term.
