TWO O.C. MEMBERS WIN PRIZE |
Results from a recent survey by the MCAI International Office to determine our members’ professional development needs and preferences are in. Survey contributors were eligible for valuable prizes and among the lucky winners picked from the hat are Orange County/LA Chapter members, Bill Ennis who will be the new owner of an Apple 30 GB iPod with Video Playback and Jo Ann Lesser who wins a Sony Sound Forge 8 software. MCA-I’s mission includes career-enhancing training and tools and the survey helps the MCA-I University* Team prioritize its tasks. Survey results and more….
130 respondents participated, of which 125 were members. The professions most represented were: producers, editors, directors, writers and multimedia producers. Web developers, consultants and educators also participated. In response to the question, “what are your education interests?,” 74% said they were looking for “skills refinement,” followed by: “skills training,” “business development” and “business leadership.” The runaway favorite learning preference was “hands-on workshops” with 83% of the vote. The two runner-ups were “seminars” and “on-line training.” When choosing a given professional development option, “Choice of topic” was the most important factor, according to the survey; “location” and “cost” follow closely behind. The MCA-I University Team is exploring a variety of training possibilities to bring to the members, one of which is partnering with existing venues. Of the venues offered, you said you’d be most interested in attending “NAB,” “Sony Workshops” or “DV Expo.” The team will use this information to develop a plan to provide a more extensive array of affordable professional development to our members. The team also plans on sending out another survey to explore which topics are most pressing for our industry. Plans for an exciting MCA-I University event are in the works for fall. If you’d like to become involved with the building of this important member benefit, or have more thoughts to share, please email Steve Tingley, MCA-I University Chair. |
