If life is a lot like Baseball, (to paraphrase Rod Kanehl,*) the Media Alliance of Orange County’s recent at-bat produced three RBI’s: an insightful speaker; a fascinating location; and delicious food.
Guest Speaker Sanjay Dalal the founder and CEO of Irvine-based OGoing www.ogoing.com, shared his wisdom and expertise on social networking.
Of special interest to small media companies and freelancers was a discussion of how to manage social networking efforts as a way to promote and boost business.
His company, established in 2009, was designed to help small businesses promote their products and find customers. Thousands of entrepreneurs and small businesses have signed-on and taken advantage of the rapidly growing Ogoing network. Dalal has launched innovative software products and authored product guides which have changed the face of business worldwide.
Hosting the Media Alliance was Nikken, www.nikken.com an international leader in wellness solutions based on the natural world. You may have seen Nikken’s impressive U.S. headquarters while driving on the 133 freeway between the 5 and 405. The building’s stunning architecture and the beautiful campus are based on the company’s philosophy of the 5 pillars of health.

Prior to the presentation in Nikken’s beautiful auditorium, attendees were treated to a tour of the Nikken office building and warehouse by Al Chavez, the director of facilities. The 213,000 square foot Nikken headquarters building is a popular filming location. Many of the media attendees were production people interested in the variety of settings from gardens and executive boardrooms to interior balconies and the shipping center.
The building, featuring a three story, curved rotunda of glass and aluminum, has appeared in numerous movies, TV programs, commercials and music videos, such as Ironman and Transformers. The site has seen stars including everyone from Cher and Sandra Bullock, to Michael Douglas, Orlando Bloom, Alec Baldwin and Robert Downey Jr., and more.
If you are interested in shooting at Nikken or just having a meeting there, contact Al Chavez at 949/789-2065 or
The evening began with networking over food and refreshments on Nikken’s large front patio.
Cart ‘n Tacos (http://cartntacos.com/) billed as Southern California’s #1 Mobile Mexican Taco Stand, provided fun and delicious south of the border taste perfect for the balmy summer evening and friendly social atmosphere. Tying into the media theme of the event, the vendor is also great idea for location film shoots. Why not forgo the cold sandwiches and wilted craft service and call on the Cart – ‘n Tacos!
